Our Story

Tacklet was born out of a simple belief: that quality equestrian gear shouldn't cost the earth and just because we are in Australia doesn't mean we shouldn't have access to all the best brands in the world!

We're a saddlery based in Kinglake West, Victoria — right in the heart of horse country. We know firsthand what riders and their horses need day in, day out. Whether you're heading to a weekend show, schooling at home, or just keeping your horse comfortable and safe, the right gear makes all the difference.

"I spent many years on the Eventing and Showjumping scene in Victoria and found that finding the right gear for my quirky mare was impossible to find in the stores so I would have to order from overseas, mainly through sites like eBay. Once I found brands like Premier Equine and HKM and used them day in and day out I knew they were brands that I wanted to make accessible to everyone!"

Why We Started Tacklet

Like a lot of riders, we spent years frustrated by the choice between gear that was affordable but ordinary, or quality products that came with eye-watering price tags. We knew there had to be a better way — so we went looking for it.

Tacklet started as a passion project and grew into something we're very proud of; a curated range of gear from riding boots to saddle pads, helmets to body protectors and everyday equestrian essentials that tick both boxes. High quality. Affordable prices.

Our Team has between them over 50 years of retail and wholesale experience at some of the biggest names in Australia, including Coles, McDonalds, Subway, BWS, Allans Music / Billy Hyde Music, Dick Smith, Mercedes-Benz, Jenny Craig and Centre Com.

We have taken our experience from these businesses and have brought it to Tacklet and our wholesale brand Hamag.
