Happy New Year!
It's that time of year again where we reflect on our progress throughout the year and start thinking about the coming year.
For me, 2019 was a difficult but incredibly rewarding year. It has seen Tacklet grow substantially with E.A Mattes, Equidae, Nags to Riches and more coming on board throughout the year, as well as new Over-Trot products being developed and brought to the market.
I want to thank everyone who has supported Tacklet over the years and especially all the wonderful new customers who I have met, particularly in the last 6 months. The impact that each customer has on a small business is significant so I want to thank you all!
Personally I had multiple horse changes, I had two horses that were sadly put to sleep within a week of each other, one from a suspected fractured hock and the other from complications from colic surgery. Since then I have taken on a few more off the track thoroughbreds for re-training. Marley, who is our model for the new Black and Silver Over-Trot Glitter Halters will be up for sale shortly. She has a lovely nature and will make a pony clubber or adult rider very happy.
Unfortunately not everyone has had a good year with the terrible drought and fires across Australia. My thoughts are with everyone affected, which at this point is a large majority of the country! We are fortunate to be in an area which hasn't been severely affected by drought, however feed prices have been very high, and buying low sugar hay has been difficult at times.
I have always been the type to have multiple goals that I am working towards, however since I have moved onto my own property my riding goals have taken a back seat and I don't think that was a bad thing.
If you are looking out the kitchen window and feeling bad about not riding then trust me you are not alone, and its okay! Your horse doesn't mind, I can assure you! As long as they are fed and loved they are quite happy just being a horse!
I'm now going to go outside and spend the rest of the first day of the year with my horses.
In the meantime, ride safe, and colourful!
